About

Hello, I'm Christen. Welcome to my little corner of the internet. This site and what I intend to use it for have been a long time coming... so bare with me as I learn to navigate keeping a website and starting a business. In June of 2015, I moved from my home town of Irving, Texas to Salt Lake City, Utah. To be honest, I had some misconceptions about this place before I moved here. However, now that I've been here for a few months the only thing I can say with absolute certainty is that Utah is an immensely beautiful state and the people here are extremely kind. Seriously--Utahans put "southern hospitality" to shame. Okay, more about me. For the longest time, I have struggled with what I want to do "when I grow up." The first thing I wanted to be was an artist. I stuck to that whole-heartedly up until my second year of college, when I decided that wanted to try teaching instead. I had some absolutely amazing teachers throughout my student years and I started to feel like it was my calling. So, just like that, I changed my major. For the last three years I worked as an art teacher in the Dallas area. Teaching made me feel like a better person, and I learned a lot about myself through it. But I still felt like I was missing out on something; something I couldn't juggle while teaching full time. I thought teaching was what I would do forever, so, you can imagine how scary it was to walk away from it. When I put in my resignation I had some comfort in knowing that I'd have a few more paychecks to get by. Well, that last check has come, and now I'm investing it as wisely as I know how to into this

My fiancĂ©, Ryan, is in his second year of a pediatrics residency here in SLC. We will be getting married on March 12, 2016 in our home town of Irving, Texas. Without Ryan's support, this seemingly tiny step (that feels more like a massive Grand Canyon sized leap) would not be happening. He's constantly giving me the affirmation I need to keep trying. I love him for so many reasons--I couldn't possibly try to list them. I can't wait to marry this guy!
